Arnaud de Roquefeuil (1906-1996), of the Department of La Manche, was a man with an exemplary war record: he had fought on the Maginot Line, subsequently joined the Resistance and was finally arrested and detained in a prisoner-of-war camp in the summer of 1944. These events are traced in his Illustrated Chronicle of the Second World War.
